WHAT IS THE BAY SIX: BROWN BAG DINER?

We know that there are kids (and adults) in every community who do not get enough to eat. Most students will eat lunch during the school year in school at around 11 am or Noon then will go until 6 pm or later before eating dinner. Some not eating breakfast, and some even not guaranteed dinner. In hopes to combat hunger and serve the students in the community, the Brown Bag Diner was created to be a place that students and their families can stop in and grab a FREE meal, with items that they choose from a menu, to go.. or to eat in. 

During the school year, at our Mingo location, our hours run from 2:30pm to 5pm , but during the summer we change the hours to 12:30pm to 3pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In Follansbee, WV our hours are on Mondays and Fridays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Visit either location to grab a FREE "brown bag" meal. 

Each meal consists of 6 items typically: a main choice , a salty snack, a sweet treat, a healthy side, a drink, and then a breakfast item for the next day. They can choose to eat it in our building, or take it home with them.

We are believing that Bay Six: Brown Bag Diner will continue to make a huge impact in this community like we were able to in 2020 when we served over 70,000 meals to students and their families. That was only possible through our partnership with Indian Creek Schools and people like YOU getting involved. It is funded/ supplied solely by donations from people in community. Those people, who hope to see that every person has enough to eat each day despite differences in social status, race, or beliefs will be the main reason this project succeeds.
